Trust, by design
A fake review checker you can check.
Trust is the whole product, so we show you how it's earned: who pays us, what we see, and how every grade is made.
Your shopping stays yours
The extension runs only on the stores you choose. Review text leaves your browser with names removed; your identity, cart and history never do.
Data sold: Never
Every grade shows its work
Three reasons with evidence on every grade. The method is public and versioned, and anyone can send us a correction. Decided corrections go in a public log.

How it works
A grade, three reasons, and what to expect.
The badge shows up on its own
Open any listing. A letter grade appears beside the stars in about a second. Nothing to click.
Click for the three reasons
Every grade explains itself in plain numbers, like "41% of 5★ reviews landed in 9 days."
Know what to expect
HonestStars reads the trustworthy reviews and sums up what owners report after weeks of use, with how many said it.
The owner digest
Know what to expect before it arrives.
Star ratings tell you how people felt on day one. The digest tells you how it holds up at week six, so there are no surprises. Every issue shows how many trustworthy reviews mention it, and you can open each one.

Questions
Is HonestStars a Fakespot alternative?
Yes. Mozilla shut Fakespot down on July 1, 2025. HonestStars gives you a similar letter grade, plus the three reasons behind it and an owner digest of recurring defects.
Is HonestStars really free?
Yes, every feature is free at launch. Your first 5 checks need no account. After that, a free account keeps them going. We will never fund HonestStars with affiliate links or by selling data.
Which stores does it work on?
Amazon, Walmart and more, plus Shopify stores with click-to-check. Chrome today, Edge and Firefox next.
What data leaves my browser?
When you check a listing: review text with names removed, the product ID, the price shown on the page and your random install ID. For a D or F grade, also the product title and category, to look for better-rated options. Nothing about a listing is sent until you check it. Never your identity, cart, order history or other tabs.
What if a product has only a few reviews?
HonestStars needs at least 5 reviews to grade. With fewer than 20 the grade is a rough guide with low confidence, and the best possible grade is B. With fewer than 5 it shows Not graded rather than guess.
Can a seller get a grade changed?
Only by showing us a factual error, through a public correction form. Never by paying.
Are corrections and grade statistics public?
Yes. Decided corrections are listed in a public log, and each month's grade distribution goes on a public reports page. Both describe HonestStars's own checks, not the marketplace.
Shop smarter. Feel great about it.
