Terms of service

These terms apply to the HonestStars browser extension and website, provided by Pointerflow LLC. By using them you agree to these terms.

What HonestStars does

HonestStars analyses the customer reviews on a product page and shows a grade, reasons and a digest. A grade is an automated, statistical opinion about the reviews on a listing, produced with the public methodology. It is not a statement of fact about any seller, brand or product, and it is not advice to buy or not to buy.

Price and accounts

HonestStars is free at launch. Your first 5 checks need no account. After that, a free account keeps them going. A "check" is one distinct product listing; opening a listing you already checked is free. The count is kept on our servers against your install ID or account. You must give accurate details and keep your sign-in secure. Features, limits and pricing may change in future; we will tell you about material changes. To keep the service running we apply daily limits per user and overall; when a limit is reached you may only see results that were already prepared, without a new analysis.

Acceptable use

• Don't attempt to disrupt, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or scrape it at scale, or evade the check limits by creating many install IDs or accounts.
• Don't use the service to harass or defame any person or business.
• Don't submit false corrections or try to influence grades by any means other than the public correction process.

Third-party sites

HonestStars works with pages from third-party stores. It reads only what your own browser can see, using your own session, and stops if a store asks you to sign in or solve a CAPTCHA. We are independent and not affiliated with any marketplace. Store names and trademarks belong to their owners. You are responsible for following the terms of the stores you use.

Accuracy and availability

We work to make grades accurate, but automated analysis can be wrong, a grade based on few reviews has low confidence and is capped at B (and with fewer than 5 reviews it is shown as "Not graded"), and stores change their pages, which can stop a check from working. The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, and may be unavailable from time to time.

Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, Pointerflow LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for purchases you make or don't make based on a grade. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Corrections

If you think a grade contains a factual error, tell us through the grade corrections form.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time by uninstalling the extension and deleting your account. We may suspend access for breach of these terms.
